Look at a picture in a newspaper. If you look closely enough, if you have a sharp focus, if you care to look, you will see the grey is made of black and white. I'm a Christian, a husband, a dad, a homeschooling parent and a Canadian. And I hope to bring some focus, thought and logic to everyday life.
A textbook on calculus. Calculus is not something that is immediately obvious, but it is an incredibly powerful tool for mathematics, the sciences and even social sciences. So a textbook on calculus definitely makes my list.

How about a book espousing personal liberties? Some text that rigorously demonstrates societal freedoms are founded on personal freedoms?
An excellent point. I couldn't think of a single reliable book on political structures (and something to lift this future society out of feudalism), but maybe someone else can suggest a book.
