More to Whom It May Concern

Hannah ended up awake from about 11:00pm to 3:00am. Last night, she was only awake between 1:15am to 2:15am. She's my little "Energizer Bunny" (she just keeps going!). I took her out with me while I ran some errands today and she fell asleep in the van, so I kept driving! She had a short nap before I went out, and has been sleeping for the last 75 minutes.

My parents are visiting for the weekend, and are a big help. Hannah is starting to warm up to my Mom, but last night wanted nothing to do with her. On the other hand she likes my Dad. Dad has also assembled my new BBQ for me.

To Whom It May Concern

I have just beaten my record of 28 straight wins at Freecell. My record now stands at 29, and it is possible that it will go higher.

Coincidently, it is now 1:30am and Hannah has been up for the past 2 hours. She is currently enjoying a bagel. I'm wondering if she would enjoy going for a ride in the van.

Temptation

I went and bought a new BBQ today. The old one was old and due for retirement. On the way home I was driving in rush hour traffic at a place where a 4 lane road narrows to 2 lanes. There was a guy in a red 40 year Ford Mustang convertible who was trying to merge in. Being a nice guy I gave him extra space and he slipped in. Usually in that situation the guy waves his thanks to you and off you go. But this guy didn't even notice what I had done because he was too busy talking on his cell phone. Then the traffic came to a bumper-to-bumper standstill. So there I am behind him with my bumper about 3 feet from his, with him chatting on his cell phone, and the moment of temptation hits me. Not the temptation to ram his pretty sports car. That would be too blunt a reaction. My temptation was to shift my van into neutral and press the gas pedal all the way to the floor. If I had given in to this temptation, I'm sure he would have screamed and wet himself. But I didn't. Still, the contemplation was amusing.

Playing with red "paint"

On Sunday morning I was making some breakfast as Hannah played at my feet (and played with my feet). I looked down and wondered how she had made such a mess and where she had got the red paint from. Well, it turned out it was not red paint she was playing with but rather blood. Thankfully it was my blood. I had cut my foot with a small piece of glass (from a glass that disintegrated in the dishwasher). I cleaned her up and then cleaned myself up.

On Sunday morning I did a spiritual gifts inventory with my Sunday School class. I thought the results were quite interesting.

Questions

I was talking to a friend tonight and mentioned Larry King (from CNN). Larry King was once asked what one question he would like to ask Jesus. The response was, "Were you really born of a virgin?" I thought this was a very perceptive question. If the answer is yes, then He is who He says He is. And if the answer is no, then he is just a man.

But my friend had an equally good question - "Did you really die?" After all, if He died and you are asking Him a question, then He was raised back to life! In fact, as 1 Corinthians 15 makes clear, Christianity hinges on the resurrection.

Returning to Normal

Joel is better. He played some computer games today and ate some meals at the table. Hannah is much improved, though still fussy and clingy. I'm better, but weak, and will be going to work tomorrow. Thankfully Karen didn't get it (though she is getting a cold) and Bethany didn't get sick either.

More Illness

Hannah is starting to feel better. She still has "diaper problems" and some gas pains, but she is much improved. Then I started getting sick on Wednesday as I was driving home from work. I ended up vomiting through the night, and it wasn't until Thursday night that the nausa ended. I'm still feeling quite rough and ended up missing 2 days of work. Unfortunately Joel is also ill. He started vomiting at 5:30am on Thursday and vomited about 15 times during the day. His vomiting ended last night, but now he has a mild fever. He has spent the last 2 days in bed beside me. Karen is coming down with a cold, but she and Bethany seem to have avoided the worst of it (so far). We had planned to celebrate Bethany's birthday tomorrow, but will need to move out the party - we're in no shape to host a party and we'd probably infect a bunch of kids.
