I've just discovered Google Reader...

... and life will never be the same again.

What's so good about it? Because I tried to set it up in the fall and maybe I didn't get the point, but I was not enthralled. So now I have lots of little boxes in iGoogle and I keep my eye open for new stuff that way. But everyone seems to love it so much I feel sure that I missed something critical.

Yes, you've missed something critical. But I can't tell you what it is. Knowledge is power and power is a fixed commodity in the universe, so by sharing knowledge with you I diminish the amount of power I have. But don't take it personally; I'm not sharing my knowledge with anyone. 8-)

Well, maybe I'll share. 8-)

Basically it is like an InBox for the web (and especially for blogs). List all the blogs you want to follow and it will tell you when they have changed (and show you the changes). No more going to your favourite blogs each day to see if the content has changed.

Some of us have been doing this on LiveJournal for years... although I haven't yet set up a feed for your blog so I keep having to visit manually, bad me.

I didn't know LJ had this feature. Anyway, if there is an RSS feed I think Google Reader can do this with any website.

Wow, that didn't take long for you to get into the reader...

Did you need to do something to enable RSS on your blog, or did that just happen?

It was already on.

And for the record, it was Sven who showed me Google Reader.
